When Intercom prepared to host Pioneer in New York City, the brief was ambitious. As the company’s flagship event, Pioneer brings together product leaders, founders, and technologists for a day of ideas, announcements, and conversation about the future of customer communication. The challenge was to deliver a production that matched the scale and reputation of the event while ensuring a seamless experience for both the in-room audience and the global viewers tuning in remotely.

Our role covered the full production lifecycle. From early scoping, budgeting, and pre-production through to the final archive delivery, the project demanded careful orchestration across teams and time zones. Working alongside our New York partners at AbelCine, we assembled and managed a 50-person crew and designed a production framework capable of supporting a large-scale live broadcast while still capturing the energy and personality of the event itself.

Technically, the production was substantial. A 19-camera setup fed into a live vision mix that powered a 4K broadcast across three stages, streamed to audiences around the world. Alongside the live show infrastructure, we built out comms, sound, and graphics systems on site to keep everything moving in sync. With no opportunity for second takes, the focus was on preparation and precision, ensuring every transition, cue, and signal path performed exactly as intended.

Outside the live program, the content pipeline continued to run at full pace. In the lead-up to the event we produced a hype film to build anticipation. During Pioneer, our team captured behind-the-scenes moments and key highlights, turning around social edits in near real time. Once the lights came down, we organised and delivered a complete event archive, ensuring every talk, moment, and asset was preserved and ready for future use.

The result was a broadcast-grade production delivered without disruption, bringing Pioneer from a single New York stage to screens across the world. Complex, fast-moving, and meticulously executed.
