When longtime collaborator Stripe became the lead sponsor of Ireland’s Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, they asked us to create the opening film for the event. The brief was to energize an audience of secondary school students while highlighting the role of science in everyday life and in Ireland’s global legacy.
We developed a motion graphics-led concept that moved through moments of Irish scientific ingenuity, connecting historic milestones with the curiosity that drives young people to experiment and build. The script balanced cultural references, humour, and national pride, including a playful nod to the classic Irish crisp sandwich as an example of unexpected invention.

The film was produced entirely in-house. Our team built a visual system combining archival newspaper photography from past competitions, custom illustration, and a structured motion typography approach designed to maintain pace and clarity. Animation, design, scripting, and editorial were developed collaboratively by a small team of motion artists and editors.

Post-production focused on tightening rhythm and energy through animation timing, sound design, and voiceover. The finished film premiered at the opening ceremony in the RDS in Dublin, acting as the launch piece for the event before Stripe co-founder and former Young Scientist winner Patrick Collison took the stage.
