Canon approached us to produce On Assignment, a documentary series built around three of its leading creators: Marina Williams, Sam Newton, and Keith Ladzinski. Developed in partnership with Pixel, Canon’s New York based creative agency, the project set out to follow each photographer through Peru as they pursued their craft in the field. The result became a 12 episode YouTube series designed to showcase both the people behind the cameras and the landscapes that inspire their work.

Our approach was to keep the storytelling grounded in the rhythm of real exploration. Rather than staging moments, we built the series around observation. Long travel days, early starts, shifting light, and the quiet decisions photographers make when chasing a shot. Peru offered everything from dense jungle to high altitude terrain, and the series leaned into that variety, allowing each creator’s perspective to shape the narrative of their episodes.

The scale of the project brought its own complexity. Over two weeks we filmed across multiple locations throughout Peru while coordinating logistics from our headquarters in Dublin. Managing international crews, travel schedules, remote locations, and constantly changing conditions required careful planning and quick decision making once production was underway.

In post production, the focus shifted to shaping twelve distinct episodes that still felt part of one cohesive series. The edit balanced cinematic landscape footage with intimate moments between the photographers and their environment. Sound design and pacing were carefully tuned to maintain a sense of movement and discovery across the full run of the series.

On Assignment stands as one of our most ambitious documentary projects to date. A collaboration that brought together international creators, challenging locations, and a production run that stretched from Dublin to the Peruvian wilderness.
