Few companies have shaped modern customer communication quite like Intercom. As the company pushed deeper into the AI era, it wanted a format that allowed its leaders to speak openly about the technological shift reshaping software. The result was Off Script, a six-episode video series built around candid, unscripted conversations about the future of AI, product design, and what it means to build an AI-first company.

The creative direction was intentionally restrained. Rather than a tightly scripted brand film, the series leaned into the feel of a thoughtful conversation. Leaders including co-founder Des Traynor spoke openly about the generative AI revolution and the profound changes underway across the technology industry. Visually, the goal was clarity and confidence. Clean framing and a calm studio environment kept the focus exactly where it belonged: on the ideas being explored.

Production created the space for those conversations to unfold naturally, but the real storytelling took shape in post. The edit transformed long-form discussion into a dynamic visual narrative. Complex metaphors and abstract concepts were brought to life through custom digital illustrations that appeared throughout the episodes, giving shape to ideas that would otherwise remain theoretical. Slick motion typography punctuated key moments in the dialogue, helping audiences track the argument as it developed.

Archival, licence-free footage was carefully sourced and woven into the episodes to draw a subtle line between past and present. Early industrial innovations, turn-of-the-century machines, and moments of technological transformation mirrored the shift we are now experiencing with AI. Alongside this visual layering, playful and immersive sound design added texture and momentum, giving the series a sense of rhythm that kept viewers engaged from beginning to end.

The result is a series that feels both conversational and cinematic. Off Script allows Intercom’s leadership to articulate its thinking at a pivotal moment in the industry, while post-production craft elevates those conversations into something far more immersive than a simple interview series.
