brand story
Created as part of the Powers Whiskey “Old But Gold” series, this film set out to celebrate the quiet force of lifelong dedication of our main character Tom. The series shines a light on individuals who have poured decades into a single pursuit, revealing the depth, resilience, and character that comes with time. For this story, we focused on Clareen Banjos, a family-run workshop where traditional Irish instruments have been handcrafted for over 40 years.
Working within an active workshop required a careful, unobtrusive approach. The space is dense with tools, materials, and history, and the process itself demands focus. We kept the crew minimal and the setup flexible, allowing us to move with the subject rather than interrupt them. The emphasis was on capturing a small number of precise, considered shots that could fully carry the story within a 60-second frame, giving each moment room to land.
The final film reflects the core idea behind “Old But Gold”. Not simply that these individuals have endured, but that they continue to create, refine, and contribute with undiminished passion. It’s a portrait of power that doesn’t announce itself loudly, but is evident in every action, every decision, and every note.
