The Tale of The Aran Sweater
Set against some of Ireland’s most striking regions, this series was designed to do more than showcase landscapes. We wanted to invite viewers into these places through the people who know them best. Each film centres on a single individual whose life is shaped by their surroundings, positioning personal perspective as the gateway to place. The result is a collection of short films that feel intimate, grounded, and quietly meditative.
The creative approach leans into documentary storytelling, but with a refined, cinematic sensibility. Rather than relying on traditional interviews, each story unfolds through voiceover, allowing the audience to hear directly from the subject while remaining visually immersed in their world. Anecdotes, routines, and small personal details become the narrative spine. These are paired with considered, textural visuals that capture the subject in their natural environment, creating a layered experience that feels both authentic and transportive.
It was an amazing experience for us travelling around Ireland and being welcomed into each niche world with its own unique terrain, story, feeling. It was essentially a dream job.
By anchoring each film in a real voice and a real connection to place, the work invites viewers to imagine themselves there. It doesn’t instruct or persuade directly. Instead, it creates a sense of presence that stays with you, long after the film ends.
