Our project with Wicklow Wolf brought us into the Wicklow Mountains to create a beautifully crafted, film-led piece — shot entirely on 16mm. Concepted and directed by Richard Childs, the film leans into a rich, textured aesthetic that only analogue can deliver. Shooting on film brought a different rhythm to the set — more considered, more deliberate — and added a tangible depth to the landscape.
Working with our actor on location, we built performances around a character that wasn’t physically there: the wolf. The key visual element of the film was always going to be this creature, but on set, it existed purely in imagination. Careful blocking, eyelines, and a few practical tricks helped us capture believable interactions against the vast mountain backdrop.
Back in the studio, our in-house motion design team brought the wolf to life as a detailed 3D model, seamlessly integrating it into the 16mm footage. The final result blends analogue texture with digital craft — a grounded, cinematic piece where the wild feels both real and mythic at the same time.
